During the consultation we view the merchandise to be sold. This helps determine which services meet your needs, what marketing will be done, where the auction will be held and what the marketing budgets and auctioneers fees will be. After this meeting a written proposal will be delivered to the seller clearly outlining all terms and conditions of the sale, fees, commissions and any special details that may be needed. The Two Types of Auctions
There are two types of auctions: Absolute Auctions and Auctions with Reserve. An absolute auction means the final high bid on any type of property which is offered as absolute without reserve, be it real estate or personal property, will be accepted. Auction with reserve means the seller must approve the final bid amount as acceptable. He must accept or decline the highest bid offer within a pre-designated timeframe. This may be done during the auction or may happen later. The buyers are aware that the item has a reserve status and and the high bidder must keep the offer in place until it is accepted or declined by the seller. Sometimes, during the consultation process, we may see items of value that should have an appraisal. It will help to determine whether it will be sold absolute or with reserve at auction. The appraisal is for your benefit and will help you receive the highest values for your treasures. Although I am a Certified Personal Property Appraiser, you will be under absolutely no obligation to get an appraisal or to use me as the appraiser. It is your call, but will be suggested when appropriate because it is the ethical thing to do. The auctioneer always represents the seller. |
